About

Since her first experiences building and modeling with clay at a very young age, abi lyon wicke has definitively been a maker of things.

Compelled to create and constantly inspired by everyday wonders of the world around her, she explores not only clay, but also glass, found object assembly, fabric, and mixed media work. Largely self-taught through the time-tested methods of observation, apprenticeship, trial and error, abi has developed a distinctive style and an expressive creative voice. Studying for two years in the department of Crafts and Design at Sheridan College, in Oakville served to further enhance and expand her skill set and offer her new exploration opportunities in her work.

abi has exhibited in private galleries around Canada, including Cube Gallery and Cyclelogik  in Ottawa, Eclectica, The Union Gallery and Next Gallery in Kingston, The Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery in Waterloo, Galerie Elena Lee in Montreal, Bittersweet Gallery in Burnstown and Lookout Gallery in Vancouver. Her work was selected for inclusion in national juried exhibitions both at Foxboro Gallery and at Tyndale Gallery in Toronto.

Raised near the Yorkshire Dales in Northern England, abi now lives and continues her clay work in Ottawa, Ontario. Whenever she can, abi takes time to travel in order to gain greater understanding and inspiration from people and places around the world. Her fi rst-hand global experience adds a greater dimension of care and insight into every piece she creates.

abi’s work can be found in private collections both in Canada & overseas.
